Keepers of the Water

Anti-Exxon rally at State Capitol in Madison, hosted by MTN, 1994.

The Wolf River is one of the last pristine waters in the Midwest. The headwaters of the Wolf River lie in the springs, marshes, and wetlands in Forest County, Wisconsin, the homeland of Sokaogon Chippewa Tribe. Waters that flow through the Chippewa wild rice land and into the Wolf River are now threatened by Exxon and Rio Algom's proposed metallic sulfide mine and toxic waste dump at the headwaters of the Wolf River. This film documents the largest, broadest, multi-racial environmental alliance ever formed over a single issue in Wisconsin (38 min. 45 sec.).
